8K IPTV is widely advertised and almost never delivered. The resolution exists, televisions that display it exist, but the content pipeline behind it does not. Nearly every service selling "8K IPTV" is taking a 1080p or 4K feed, upscaling it, and putting an 8K label on the channel name. We would rather set out what is genuinely available than sell you a number.
What 8K actually is
8K means 7680 by 4320 pixels: four times the pixel count of 4K and sixteen times 1080p. That sounds decisive, and on paper it is. In a living room it is far less so. Below roughly 75 inches, at ordinary viewing distance, the difference between 8K and well-produced 4K is difficult for most people to identify in a blind comparison. Bitrate and source quality matter more than pixel count long before you reach this point.
What genuinely broadcasts in 8K
Very little, and that is the heart of the matter. NHK in Japan operates the best-known dedicated 8K satellite service, and there have been isolated 8K trials around major sporting events. Outside that, live 8K broadcasting is close to non-existent. Cameras, production trucks, contribution links and playout chains would all need replacing, and broadcasters have little commercial reason to do it while 4K is still rolling out.
So when a provider offers you thousands of 8K channels, ask where the source feeds are coming from. There is no answer that holds up.
What real 8K would demand of you
| Requirement | 4K | Genuine 8K |
|---|---|---|
| Sustained bandwidth | 25 Mbps | 80 - 100 Mbps |
| Television | Any 4K panel | 8K panel, HDMI 2.1 |
| Decoding | HEVC, widely supported | AV1 or VVC in real time |
| Connection | Wired preferred | Wired essential |
| Content available | Extensive | Almost none |
Even if the feeds existed, a household would need close to four times the bandwidth of a 4K stream to carry one reliably at peak time. That is beyond what most connections deliver consistently in the evening.
Why 4K is the right target in 2026
4K is where the actual quality gains sit right now, because the content exists and the pipeline works end to end. A high-bitrate 4K feed of a football match looks markedly better than the same match upscaled and labelled 8K, and it will play without stalling on a normal connection.
That is where our effort goes. The 4K page sets out which sports, PPV events and film channels carry genuine Ultra HD feeds, and every one of them has an HD twin in the list for when the line is under pressure.
What Tivo8k actually delivers
The name is a brand, not a specification. What you get is 25,000+ live channels and 120,000+ on-demand titles, with genuine 4K on the events that are produced in 4K, HD everywhere else, and a programme guide that works in whichever player you prefer. One Xtream login covers every device and app you own.
If an 8K label is what you are shopping for, other sellers will happily supply one. We would rather you took the free trial, watched a 4K feed during a busy evening, and judged the picture rather than the marketing. Prices are on the pricing page.
