Step-by-step setup
Install the app for your device
Android TV and phones take it from Google Play. Firestick needs a sideload through Downloader, covered step by step in the Firestick guide. Samsung and LG have it in their own stores under "IPTV Smarters". On Apple, search "IPTV Smarters Player". Windows and Mac installers come from the developer site.
Choose Login with Xtream Codes API
Accept the terms on the opening screen, then pick the Xtream Codes option. Leave the M3U route alone unless support has specifically pointed you at it, because Xtream pulls the guide and on-demand library automatically and M3U often does not.
Enter your Tivo8k details
Any name, then the username, password and server URL including http:// and the port, exactly as sent on WhatsApp. Tap Add User.
Let the EPG load
It now downloads channels, the on-demand library and the programme guide. The guide can take a few minutes to fill out properly, so do not judge it immediately. Under Settings, EPG, switch on "Enable EPG on live TV" so it shows while a channel is playing.
Set the player
In Settings, Player settings, choose the built-in player with hardware decoding. If one channel stutters while the rest behave, change that single channel to software decoding from the player menu rather than altering the global setting.
Common errors and fixes
"Your account is expired"
This is the subscription reaching its end date, not a fault in the app. Renew on WhatsApp and the identical credentials start working again within minutes. Nothing needs reinstalling.
Channels list is empty after login
Pull down to refresh first, then sign out and back in. If it is still empty, something in the server address is wrong, and the port number is almost always the culprit.
App keeps closing on Firestick
Clear its cache under Settings, Applications, Manage installed applications, then reopen. If it continues, uninstall and fetch a current build, because an outdated APK on a newer Fire OS is a common cause.

The app is free on every platform and always has been. What confuses people is that it arrives empty: it carries no channels of its own and needs a subscription such as Tivo8k entered as an Xtream login before anything appears. Nothing is charged inside the app itself.

Smarters is free, simpler and runs everywhere.
